The New Baltic Hermétique Dual Time Enduropale Edition

Baltic is partnering with the legendary race on its 50th anniversary and releases a befitting timepiece for the occasion.

Baltic is one of the small and independent watch brands that have emerged in recent years and gained recognition for offering very reasonably priced and nicely designed watches with a vintage-inspired aesthetic. “Inspired by the past, made for the present”, to quote the brand. Whatever your sensibility, you will most likely feel good about a Baltic watch, be it the Aquascaphe, HMS, MR01 or Tricompax collection. There’s also the Hermétique Tourer with watches boasting a 150m water resistance, and this collection gets a new addition with the arrival of the new Baltic Hermétique Dual Time Enduropale Edition.

Etienne Malec is the man behind the brand, and as it often happens, his passion for watches goes hand in hand with his enthusiasm for motorsports. You might remember Baltic x Peter Auto Tricompax Special Edition and the Tricompax Tour Auto 2024. The new Hermétique Dual Time champions two-wheeled engines, or rather nearly 3,000 motorbike riders that take part in the Enduropale, a Mad Max kind of a 3-hour race on the beach at Le Touquet-Paris-plage – which turns 50 this year.

The new Hermétique Dual Time Enduropale Edition is very similar to the Hermétique Tourer field watch series: its stainless steel brushed and polished case is 37mm in diameter and 10.8mm thick, double-domed sapphire crystal included, with a solid caseback (engraved) and a 150m water-resistance. The difference is hard to miss as the Dual Time features not one but two integrated crowns, positioned opposite, at 3 and 9 o’clock. The additional crown on the left is for operating the internal bezel, coloured from 00 to 03 hours, turquoise green for the first two and purple for the third hour, in reference to the three hours of the endurance race, with the rest of the bezel painted black.

On the matte grey dial, the hours are marked with applied indices in Super-LumiNova, Arabic numerals at cardinal positions, and baton-shaped markers. The syringe-shaped hour and minute hands are also treated with luminous material, and the central seconds hand gets its lollipop part luminescent. Above the 6 o’clock index, Enduropale in green marks the partnership.

For the movement, the Hermétique Dual Time Enduropale Edition uses the same automatic Miyota 9039 calibre (42h power reserve, 4Hz frequency) as found in other Hermétique Tourer watches, as the Dual Time refers only to the clever use of an inner rotating bezel to mark a second time zone and there’s no mechanical complication to be found here.

The watch is paired with a green tropic-style strap made of fluorocarbon rubber. Steel beads-of-rice or flat link bracelets are another option. Prices are EUR 720 for the strap and EUR 798 when purchased with a bracelet, taxes included. The new Baltic Hermétique Dual Time Enduropale Edition is limited to 200 pieces and will not be reproduced. For more, visit Baltic-Watches.com.

  1. Come-on: This would have been such a good watch at at least 40 mm!
