The new Breguet Reine de Naples 9915 For Valentine’s Day 2025

The oval-shaped Reine de Naples sends an unequivocal message of love written in diamonds, pink sapphires and rubies.

Abraham-Louis Breguet was the leading watchmaker of his day and enjoyed the patronage of France’s royalty and aristocracy. Among the names on his VIP list was Caroline Murat, aka the Reine de Naples, Napoleon Bonaparte’s youngest sister, who was a keen collector of Breguet’s horological marvels. The Reine de Naples collection is a free interpretation of the first watch wristwatch created for the Queen of Naples by Breguet and is distinguished by its elegant oval-shaped case with a round central lug and crown at 4 o’clock. For Valentine’s Day 2025, Breguet revisits its feminine timepiece par excellence with a mother-of-pearl dial, scintillating diamonds and romantic pink sapphires and red rubies.

The beauty of top-quality mother-of-pearl resides in its iridescence, a phenomenon caused by the refraction of light waves that produce a rainbow play of colour that changes according to the viewing angle. Extracted from the central section of nacreous shells, the brittle material is delicately polished to enhance its natural iridescence and cut to fit the oval-shaped dial.

Breguet also uses the Reine de Naples to showcase its gem-setting skills. The slightly sloping flange is hand-set with 54 brilliant-cut diamonds that gradually give way to 18 pink sapphires as they reach the base of the dial. Here, occupying the space between 6 and 8 o’clock, is a delightful heart set with 23 brilliant-cut red rubies connected to the flange like a ribbon. Using gradient tones of pink sapphires, the transition from diamonds to sapphires on the flange starts with the lightest coloured sapphires and intensifies to culminate with the passionate red rubies used to trace the heart.

The hours are indicated by an applied white gold Arabic 12 and rounded white gold indices that taper in size as they reach the lower area of the dial. An ‘unmistakable sign’ of Breguet is the use of elegant, blued, open-tipped hands.

Crafted in 18k white gold, the signature egg-shaped case features fine fluting on the caseband. Highlighting the contours of the case, which is wider at the bottom and narrower at the top, are 45 hand-set brilliant-cut diamonds. Adding a vibrant touch of colour, the crown is set with a cabochon-cut ruby. The proportions of the case – 28.45mm across, 36.5mm long and 10.4mm high – are undeniably feminine. The round-shaped lug attachment that extends over the strap is set with a flurry of 52 snow-set diamonds.

Equipped with the in-house calibre 537/3, this slim automatic movement has a power reserve of 45 hours and oscillates at 3.5Hz. A round sapphire crystal on the caseback reveals the round movement, complete with a Breguet balance wheel, a platinum rotor decorated with hand-guilloché and a contemporary silicon balance spring.

The Breguet Reine de Naples 9915 for Valentine’s Day 2025 is paired with a red alligator leather strap and a white gold triple-blade folding clasp set with 28 diamonds. It is a limited edition of 28 numbered pieces and retails for CHF 48,000 (incl. tax) or EUR 56,300 (incl. tax). For more information, please consult breguet.com.
