An Anthracite Dial for the Norqain Freedom 60 GMT Bronze

Norqain's traveller's GMT in bronze dons a handsome dark grey dial.

In just seven years, Norqain has consolidated its position as a producer of sporty, robust, adventure-inspired watches. Following its partnership with movement manufacture Kenissi in 2020, one of the first models to benefit from the deal was its traveller’s GMT model, the Freedom 60 GMT. Appearing with blue, green and brown dials, the latest bronze edition of 300 pieces lands in the collection with a handsome anthracite dial.

The reference to ‘60’ in the name of the watch alludes to the 1960s design vibe. Responding to the market demand for more compact case sizes, the Freedom 60 GMT has a 40mm case size with a thickness of 14.5mm. The bronze GMT editions underscore the vintage vibe and look and feel warmer. The 100m water-resistant bronze case has a predominance of satin-finished surfaces with some polished accents and the signature Norqain plaque on the left side of the case.

The latest bronze model comes with an earthy dark grey dial. Echoing the case material, the applied hour markers are bronze and filled with old radium Super-LumiNova, like the syringe-style hour and minute hands. All the bronze-coloured elements on the dial are sandblasted. As a traveller’s GMT, the date window at 3 o’clock makes a lot of sense. And in a final nod to the 1960s, the dial is protected by a box-type sapphire crystal.

The anthracite dial features an internal two-tone (black and white) 24-hour scale for the GMT function indicated by a red arrow-tipped hand. Offering two time zones at a glance, the central hands indicate local time, and the additional, independent 24-hour hand indicates home time. However, as a traveller’s or a true GMT watch, the local hour hand and date can be adjusted independently in one-hour increments in both directions without affecting the GMT hand.

Kenissi’s high-performance automatic calibre NN20/2 powers the Norqain Freedom 60 GMT. Visible through the sapphire window on the caseback, the movement is COSC chronometer-certified, beats at 4Hz and delivers a robust power reserve of 70 hours. The innovative jumping hour GMT feature means the local date and hour hand can be adjusted instantly without stopping the watch.

The Freedom 60 GMT model is a limited edition of 300 pieces. It retails for EUR 4,350 on the black Perlon rubber strap and EUR 4,190 on the Alcantara ebony strap. More information at Norqain.com.
